B&B Information

Breezy Bay Farm Bed & Breakfast is a beautiful and rustic English style farmhouse.   It is the oldest constructed home on Saturna Island–situate on a fifty acre operational heritage communal farm.  The land, fixtures and house speak to their rich history.  The house was first built around 1892 by the Payne Family who where from England and who came to the land–a European pioneer family now settlers upon the Pacific Gulf Islands.   This pioneer story alone paints a fascinating history but the  richness of place does not end there as in the 1960s the Payne’s Pioneer Home became the cetral site of the Saturna Island Free School  campus.   This land served now to pioneer again-this time pioneering into alternatives to traditional educational models, the Free School Movement came to Saturna Island and for a brief but momentous and pivotal time.  The Big House and the Farm were a site in an innovative and earnest effort to foster meaningful advancements in understanding the evolutionary potential for restricted education and.  The Big House was Last restored in the 1970s and still retains much of its unique original character and charm.  When you visit Payne’s Farm or the Saturna Island Free School, you feel not only the presence of history past but also the sensation of arriving at a new moment–completely and harmoniously.

The home includes four private guest rooms, a library, a common living room, a games room and a sunny breakfast room. The house is large and peaceful with many communal areas for guest use.   The vast library welcomes guests to explore volume after fascinating volume.

A short walk from the front door of the B&B, guests have access to private hiking trails and a private beach. The beach is ideal for kayakers, canoers, or sunbathers.  A wide veranda stretches the length of the house and is a lovely place to read and relax on sunny days. The house overlooks the heritage orchard, farm pond, pastures and vegetable garden. The drive is lined with maple, linden, hawthorne, and walnut trees. Century-old lombardy poplars flank the front gate.  Parking area includes a EV charging station for guest use.  A communal picnic area with BBQ and badminton court available to Breezy Bay Farm guest.

The farm was first cleared over 100 years ago. It produces vegetables, tree fruit, culinary herbs, chicken and duck eggs, hay, beef, poultry and pork. There are greenhouses, two orchards (one was planted 100 years ago), a large communal garden, and pastures. You will find your breakfast will consist of mainly seasonal farm goods and preserves grown and produced here on Breezy Bay Farm.
